Religious Discourses in Islam - Between Crisis and Modernity

Based on a critical assessment of the endeavors which were undertaken by Muslim scholars since the middle of the nineteenth century to harmonize Islamic traditions with modernity, the lecture will discuss most recent developments and debates subsequent to the Arab Uprisings in order to present how contemporary religious discourses in Islam deal with major political and religious issues related to authoritative sacred texts.
