Our research areas

The Academy conducts basic research in the humanities, social studies, the natural sciences, technology and engineering. Our research focuses on linguistics and literary studies, history and archaeology, musicology and digital humanities. Projects include critical editions of the works of great scholars and composers, dictionaries and lexicons, as well as directories and catalogues. In the natural sciences, technology and engineering space, the Academy’s core competencies lie in geoscience and environmental science, glaciology, information technology, digitalisation, low-temperature physics and quantum research. Researchers look at long-term measurements and modelling, as well as the development and testing of innovative technologies.
