Leibniz Supercomputing Centre
The Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) ranks as one of the top academic/scientific computing centres in the world. It is also the IT partner for Munich’s universities and other third-level institutions and scientific facilities in Bavaria, Germany and Europe. It supports top-level interdisciplinary research by providing high-availability, secure and energy-efficient IT solutions based on cutting-edge technology.
Supercomputing, future computing, virtual reality and research
With SuperMUC-NG, the Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) ranks among the world’s leading supercomputing centres. In the field of future computing, it focuses on emerging technologies, artificial intelligence and machine learning, as well as quantum computing. The LRZ is a founding member of Munich Quantum Valley and was one of the first computing centres in Europe to integrate a quantum computer into its high-performance computing system. The Centre for Virtual Reality and Visualisation (V2C) provides scientists with new ways to visualise their research data so they can gain new insights into their findings. The LRZ also engages in its own research and development projects specialised in energy-efficient supercomputing, IT service and security management, big data, and research data management.
