SUMMARY:Food for thought – thinking about healthy eating and the brain
DESCRIPTION:Healthy eating and its interrelation with brain function is an
emerging topic both in basic as well as clinical research. But what constit
utes a healthy diet and what do we really know about how it influences neur
onal processing? This symposium brings together neuroscientists with divers
e backgrounds to highlight recent advances in our understanding about the i
nfluences of the food we eat on our brain and vice versa. You will learn ho
w brain circuits control our eating decisions and to what extent bacteria i
n the gut impact brain health. You will further hear how different nutrient
s are metabolized and used by brain cells, and how these nutrients affect b
rain function in health and disease. Sponsored by: Bayerische Akademie der
